CHICKENS

You'll find big fluffy English Orpingtons roaming the farm. They are huge, docile birds that are great layers of big tan eggs. They are easy-going, great foragers, calm and quiet and amazing with the kids. Plus, they come in so many fun colors! We raise lavender and white Orpingtons.

You will also find a large flock of unique black and white chickens called Ermine Ameraucanas. Boog, our flock patriarch, is always the talk of the farm when people come to visit. He can almost always be found in the front yard or at the boys' playset waiting for us to come outside. These chickens lay beautiful blue eggs.

We offer hatching eggs as well as started birds & chicks.

HERITAGE TURKEYS

We raise recessive lilac and bourbon red turkeys here on the farm. The recessive lilac variety was created in 1936 when a hobbyist noted a color mutation in a flock of bronze heritage turkeys. Somehow, the genetics disappeared from the United States and very recently was re-introduced. We are one of the few people in the United States to be working with this variety and contributing to the increasing numbers here in the U.S. It remains an extremely rare color variety and one of my favorites.

Due to the extremely rare nature of recessive lilac, bourbon red heritage turkeys were used to add genetic diversity. We create 'splits' which means our bourbon reds are visually red like a typical bourbon red but they carry the recessive lilac genes. This means that we can hatch either more bourbon red turkeys or pure recessive lilac turkeys.

DUCKS

Cayuga ducks roam the fields of the farm, grazing, hunting, and sleeping.

This breed is considered dual purpose meaning they are great layers of large eggs ranging in shade from white to dark gray, almost black and they can be used for meat also. They are a hardy breed and are quite docile.

They are classified on a 'watch' list by the Livestock Conservancy which means they can easily slip into endangered status if conservation efforts are not taken. We hatch as many as we can to help increase the global population and hope you find them interesting enough to want to hatch some too!

GOATS

Every animal on the farm must serve a purpose and the goats are no different. We knew we wanted goats to help keep the browse at bay but also wanted their milk for our family and handmade goods. We raise miniature alpines and kinder crosses making great milk and meat goats. Goat kids are available annually and always sell out very quickly.
